Director of FPT Technology Research Institute, FPT University
Tran The Trung was born in 1978 and is the second Vietnamese to achieve the Gold Medal of International Physics Olympiad. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computational Physics at the University of Versailles, France in 2005. In 2009, he joined FPT Corporation and has been holding many important positions, contributing significantly to the development of the organization. In 2014, he successfully registered FPT’s first invention patient and was awarded the First-class Medal for his achievement. Since then, Trung has been the author of 20 granted patents and shows no signs of stopping his passion for inventing and researching.

Currently, Trung is Director of FPT Technology Research Institute, FPT University. His responsibilities include developing a technology strategy for the university, advising on Intellectual Property Packaging, managing talent acquisition & international relations, supervising Research & Development Projects, and managing the Post-graduate program for FPT University.

Le Hong Viet joined FPT Corporation in 2005 then worked for Microsoft from 2008-2009. In 2009, he came back to FPT and became CTO of FPT Asia Pacific. Since then, Viet has held many crucial positions in the organization and is one of the pioneers in applying and developing new technologies as well as helping FPT conquer international markets. From 2016 to August 2020, he is CTO of FPT Corporation and was appointed as the CEO of FPT Smart Cloud – the newest child company under the corporation, focusing on professional cloud solutions.

Viet has contributed remarkably in planning and developing a technology strategy for FPT Corporation over the past 15 years. He has also successfully developed multiple initiatives to create new businesses for FPT, including CyRadar, VioEdu, FPT.AI – one of the key products leveraging the Artificial Intelligence of the corporation. Additionally, Viet acts as a coordinator who consults and facilitates technologies of FPT’s subsidiaries and develops technology-related community activities for the group.

Pham Quang Viet currently is the General Manager of the AI Department under FPT Software’s Global Automotive Group. With more than 15 years working in the industry & the field of AI adoption, he obtains very deep expertise in Embedded System, Computer Vision and Deep Learning.

Viet has joined and managed more than 50 AI projects, mostly as a problem solver, who navigates between traditional software development and machine learning implementations. He has made a significant contribution to the company’s improvement in adopting AI in the manufacturing, automotive, and transportation sector. His projects focus on developing innovative AI-powered solutions for clients, such as a driverless cars, face recognition applications, IoT solutions for measuring.

Pham Ngoc Giao achieved his Ph.D. Degree in Data Science from Pukyong National Degree (Korea). He has worked in many large organizations like Panasonic R&D, Smart Huyndai, Geomatic Korea, before joining us. Apart from being a data scientist, he is also an IT lecturer at FPT University. His research interests include Image Processing, Model Recognition, Data Security, AI, Data Science, Data Analytics.

Giao has participated in more than 20 projects and contributed remarkably in studying and developing FPT’s self-made AI-powered applications, such as application to process images for embedded cameras, algorithms for data security, data analyzing application for smart factories, etc. Combining academic research with actual working experiences, Giao has published 30+ papers and journals.

Dao Huu Hung joined FPT Software Japan Co.Ltd and became Chief of Scientists in 2015, after completing MEXT Fellowship at Keio University. He has been leading a Consulting Team to renovate the business and operation of numerous Japanese companies by computer vision, machine learning, and AI (Deep Learning) technologies such as anomaly detection, image search engine, industrial visual inspection, autonomous driving, ADAS, medical image segmentation, plastic surgery recommendation, Ontology Learning, etc.

Hung has published dozens of papers in those fields, some along with his clients. He has been filing 02 patents relating to AI technology. Major projects he participated in are developing a fall detection system to support elderly people living alone, real-time people counting in crowded areas using local empirical templates and density ratios.

In 2015, Vu Thuong Huyen, from a university lecturer, decided to become a full-time data scientist. Since then, she has been making remarkable contributions to the success of FPT Software’s core products and projects. With deep expertise in Natural language Processing, Data mining, Data Analytics, Huyen and colleagues developed professional IT translation software, called AkaTrans that is able to translate different language pairs and translate text in images. She also joined projects to build models to detect objects from cars’ video recording or application suggesting horse race ticket using Machine Learning.

Toan is an expert in Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Big Data, Distributed/parallel Computing, Optimization. He has played a significant role in developing innovative, optimal yet cost-efficient solutions for clients around the globe, such as sensor data analysis (including predictive mentenance, anomaly detection, root cause analysis), time series forecasting, predictive/recommendation systems, etc.
